MEET THE 13-YEAR-OLD TAKING THE OPEN SINGLES CIRCUIT BY STORM
Mid Glos IBC player Louie Hodges has been enjoying a great
indoor season so far. We caught up with him...
How did you get into bowls? Most of my family play, my dad,
brother, uncle and both my grandads.

What do you love about it? The social side, and
competitiveness of the game.
Who do you look up to?
Finley Williamson. We have been friends since I was three.
We play at the same club indoor and out. He has also achieved some
great things in the sport, which I want to follow.
What do you enjoy about playing in the Open Singles Circuit (OSC)
events? Can you tell me about your season so far? Playing in
the Open Singles competitions give you the chance to test yourself
against some of the best players in the country, not just the ones
in your area, and the prize money is good too!
So far, the
season is going well. I got to the final of one OSC and two quarter
finals out of the three tournaments I have entered so far. I have
qualified again for the national under 18 singles, also the Under 18
Triples and Under 30 Triples. I also got to the area final of the
Family Pairs with my brother Josh but just missed out to the Holmes'
brothers in very close game. We also had a good run in the Denny cup
but lost to Nottingham in the quarter final. It was a great
experience, as they have several international players.
What would you say are your biggest successes to date?
Getting to the final of the Dolphin OSC was great and got me
lots of money! Qualifying for the Under 18 Triples, Under 30 Triples
and also the Under 18 Singles for a second year has been great, as
we have a strong area with lots of good Under 18's. Outdoors I won
the county under 25 singles last year and made my Middleton cup
debut.
What are your aims? My main goal is
to represent England at all levels and win as many national and OSC
titles as I can.
Sian Honnor.
