TONY HOROBIN STEPS DOWN FROM INTERNATIONAL ROLE
After 34 years of service to the sport of Indoor
Bowls, Tony Horobin has decided to step down from the EIBA and his
current roles as the England Men’s International Team Manager and
Delegate to the British Isles Indoor Bowls Council.
Tony was
appointed Team Manager of the Men’s International Team in 2009,
although he had filled the role on a temporary basis from 2006.
During this time, he managed the team at 12 British Isles Series
with an impressive 10 Series wins.
Under his leadership the
team have won 6 consecutive series which equals the best ever
winning streak.
As well as being the Senior Team Manager Tony
also managed and was a selector for equally successful Men’s Under
25 and Mixed Under 18 teams.
Whilst off the rinks Tony was a
dedicated and proactive International administrator who served the
EIBA, World Indoor Bowls Council and British Isles Indoor Bowls
Council as President and Delegate.
Peter Thompson Chief
Executive said “Tony’s involvement in both areas will be missed by
the EIBA, players and representatives of the other British Isles
Countries. There is no doubt that has represented English Indoor
Bowls with distinction, honour, and pride. We wish him well as he
devotes his time to his family.”
