The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) is delighted to announce that the
sport of bowls has achieved the Advanced Standards Award in Safeguarding
following a successful application to the NSPCC.
Working together
with Bowls England (BE), English Indoor Bowling Association (EIBA),
English Short Mat Bowling Association (ESMBA), British Crown Green
Bowling Association (BCGBA) and the English Bowling Federation (EBF)
policies, procedures, guidelines and templates have been developed which
will be used across all five of the National Governing Bodies. This will
ensure a joined-up approach when dealing with issues or concerns raised
by clubs or individuals.
Information on safeguarding can be found
at
www.safeguardingbowls.org. The documents available on the website will be updated in January 2017
to reflect any changes in legislation.
Susan Cooper the
Development Director of the BDA commented, "The bringing together of all
bowls organisations to work on safeguarding will go a long way to ensure
that the sport of bowls is a safe sport for everyone to play”
Information on training courses available to all Club Welfare Officers
can also be found on the
website
