Fixed term to 31 March 2013The Bowls
Development Alliance (BDA) is a newly formed organisation which has been
created to lead on the development of the sport of bowls through the
clubs, counties and coaches in England. In particular, the BDA aims to
increase the profile of the sport by increasing participation and
satisfaction levels of those playing the sport.
Bowls is a
popular sport with low barriers to entry and opportunities to
participate throughout the year. It is a sport that people of all ages
and abilities can actively enjoy recreationally all the way to elite
competition. There are currently over 400,000 club members in over 7,500
venues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• |
Develop the BDA’s strategy and whole
sport plan in conjunction with the Board |
• |
Lead the implementation of the sport’s
development in line with the BDA’s strategy |
• |
Manage the day to day running of the BDA to achieve the
development objectives |
• |
To work closely with Sport England to ensure delivery of
agreed outcomes, financial accountability of public funding and
appropriate governance |
• |
To evaluate the outcomes of BDA development programmes and
prepare reports on the performance of these for the Chairman and
funding agencies and ensure that good practice is built upon |
• |
To monitor and manage the sport development budget of the
BDA |
• |
Regularly review the regional and local sporting environment
that influences the growth and development of bowls and develop
appropriate strategies to ensure continued participation |
• |
To inform county sports partnerships of the needs of bowls
to enhance clubs, counties, coaches and facilities |
• |
To undertake such other duties as may be appropriate to
achieve the objectives of the post |
