International Bowlers start their training with Coach Bowls!
The Bowls Development Alliance, in partnership with the English Indoor
Bowling Association Ltd are delighted to announce the commencement of a new
fast track course for some of its international bowlers.
Two
International Players are the first to take part in an initial pilot course
which on completion will make them Level 2 Qualified Bowls Coaches. The two
players in question are three time World Indoor Singles Champion, Andy
Thomson MBE and established EIBA international Brett Arkley.
This is
a very exciting development for coaching and demonstrates the belief that
these bowlers have in the new” Coach Bowls” qualifications as well as
feeding some valuable insight into the scheme from such well respected
competitors.
Peter Thompson (Chief Executive of EIBA) said:
"We are delighted that the players are taking part in
this course. They want to support their Club’s and the sport in general by
being able to coach existing and new bowlers to enable them to reach their
desired level of performance.”
The pair have also shown their support for the new ‘Just One’ campaign which
has been launched by the BDA. If every bowler just introduced one new bowler
to their club, participation in our sport would soar! This initiative is
being rolled out Nationwide and you can show your support by buying one of
our ‘Just One’ shirts (all profits going to Sport Relief).
Friday
21st March, 2014 marks this year’s Sport Relief day, and the “Just One”
campaign will run from this date until the 2016 Sport Relief day.
