Package Funding and Bring a Friend UpdateThe window for the inaugural Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) Package Funding has seen over 80 applications being received and £25,000 of funding approved for distribution to the successful clubs through the Silver, Gold and Communities packages. The show of support from clubs affiliated to Bowls England and the English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd has been extremely pleasing.This is a fantastic start to the 2013-2017 period for the BDA and the show of support from clubs has been extremely pleasing. To be able to distribute £25,000 to clubs at grass roots level to assist with their recruitment activities, as well as the offer of non-financial support, is excellent and the BDA looks forward to similarly successful windows in the future. The next 3 Package application windows will take place between the following dates: • Summer 2013 Window – 1st July to 31st August • Spring 2014 Window – 1st February to 31st March • Summer 2014 Window – 1st July to 31st August * - Clubs have 12 months from the date a package is awarded to complete all events. Please note, all funding applications must be supported by a Coach Bowls registered coach. If your club does not have Coach Bowls registered coach, please contact the BDA who will direct you to your nearest Coach Bowls coach or alternatively, any coach with an existing bowls coaching accreditation can join the Coach Bowls scheme for just £8 per year with no mandatory requirement to undertake any further qualifications. More good news comes in the form of the Spring 2013 Bring a Friend initiative which has seen a record number of clubs sign up to host recruitment events between the 27th April and 6th May. Over 150 clubs have registered making this already the most successful Bring a Friend campaign since its introduction in October 2011 and we still have 2 weeks for other clubs to follow suit and register.
