The BDA are delighted to have secured Nigel Redman, the current Head of
Performance Team Development for British Swimming as the keynote speaker at
the Coaching-Making A Positive Difference conference next March.
In his
current role he is tasked with supporting and developing the Performance
Team on their journey to Tokyo 2020.
Nigel played for Bath Rugby club on
more than 300 occasions and gained 20 caps playing for England.
He was
also a member of the successful British and Irish Lions team on their tour
of South Africa in 1997 where he captained the team on two occasions.
After retiring in 1999 Nigel began his coaching career that included time
with England and in the Aviva Premiership.
Nigel is a believer in the
saying “you owe it to your players to be the best coach you can possibly be”
and during his time as a coach has worked his way through the coaching
awards to become only one of a handful of coaches to be awarded Level 5
status. He has worked alongside some of UK’s best Olympic coaches as part of
the UK Sport Elite Coach Programme.
As well as British Swimming he has
worked as a coach and mentor to coaches and leaders of Winter Olympic and
Summer Olympic sports, Premier League Football and the Rugby Football Union.
We are delighted he will be our keynote speaker and look forward to hearing
more about his career in coaching.
