Coach Bowls Establishing a Bright Future for Bowls Coaching
Coach Bowls is the only coaching qualification for
flat green bowls recognised by Bowls England and the English Indoor Bowling
Association Ltd.
The Coach Bowls qualification provides the foundation
for the future of bowls in England, with assurances in respect of the
quality and consistency in how bowls coaching is delivered in and out of
clubs by a national team of fully qualified coaches.
It is delivered
by the Bowls Development Alliance, on behalf of Bowls England and the
English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd, under the UK Coaching Framework and
endorsed by Sport England.
We all want the sport of bowls to prosper
for both this and future generations. We therefore urge clubs and counties
to actively encourage their coaches to become members of the Coach Bowls
scheme. By doing so, they can help your club and county to be part of an
exciting new era for the sport.
The knowledge and experience that
coaches accredited under the English Bowls Coaching Society continue to
bring to bowls is very much acknowledged. However it is vital for the future
development that all newcomers to coaching are required to pass the
nationally recognised ‘Coach Bowls’ qualification. This will enable all
participants, irrespective of their location, to receive the same
consistently high standards of coaching.
Bowls England and the EIBA
Ltd provide bursaries to assist their members with the qualification fees,
whilst funding may also be available from County Sport Partnerships.
Individual membership to the Coach Bowls Scheme costs just £8 and as well as
providing insurance cover, members receive regular updates on developments
in coaching and if they so wish, may offer their services to clubs both
inside and outside of their county boundaries.
This statement is
issued jointly by Bowls England, the English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd and the Bowls Development Alliance.
